Scope

The scope of WG 1 is to observe the ongoing policy items in the European Union and to work out issues and position papers on specific work items.

Main objective

• Maintaining and achieving a favourable regulatory environment for source separation of organic waste and biological treatment (composting, AD) and the use of compost and digestate to the benefit of the soil and environment.

Main tasks

• Observing policy and regulatory developments on EU Level with impact on biowaste management (collection, treatment and the use of treatment outputs and products)
• Identifying priority areas for in depths involvement as stakeholder in EU consultation processes
• Permanent or on demand contact and communication with responsible desk officers within the EU Commission (DG ENV/Waste & Soil; DG AGRI, DG SANCO; DG ENTR ….) as well as experts / rapporteurs of the EP
• Information of Country Representatives (CR) and Members of current developments and activities
• Information of Country Representatives (CR) about needed actions and communications on national level in order to support EU consultation processes via national governments and MEP
