♻️ Unlocking the full potential of biowaste in the circular bioeconomy.
On 7 July 2025, ECN published together with the European Biogas Association (EBA) and Municipal Waste Europe (MWE) a joint paper calling for the integration of biowaste into the 2025 revision of the EU Bioeconomy Strategy.
To fully unlock biowaste potential, we recommend:
- Directing separately collected biowaste to fertilising product and biogas production.
- Supporting the market for circular organic fertilising products.
- Facilitating the market for biogas and biomethane from biowaste.
- Mobilising European funds and investments for the production of biogas and organic fertilising products from biowaste.
