WORKSHOP at the IFAT 2018 (Conference room A 31, first floor (south end of hall A3)

Meeting the new EU recycling targets is impossible without processing of organic waste.

EU member states with low population densities and special climatic conditions face problems regarding the implementation of a properly functioning biological waste treatment. The boundary conditions require small-scale technologies, which can be adapted to the specific climatic environment.

Preliminary programm

09:30 a.m. Registration
09:45 a.m. Welcome and Introduction
“The EU recycling targets from a different point of view: Challenges of small
countries and countries with demanding climatic conditions”, Prof. Th. Pretz
(RWTH Aachen University)
10:15 a.m. Keynote
“Challenging boundary conditions for waste treatment – the example of
Estonia”, Prof. M. Kriipsalu (Estonian University of Life Sciences)
10:45 a.m. Coffee break & Refreshments
11:00 a.m. Discussing the Challenges
Capacities: Which technologies are available for throughputs ≤ 10.000 t/a?
Material conditions: How does the input material differ due to the climatic
conditions and what kind of technical requirements result for the treatment?
Economic conditions: How can specific treatment costs be reduced?
12:15 p.m. Closing words
